Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and I-CBT for
OCD
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. Together, we will gain understanding of your unique experience of OCD, and use ERP to break the cycle of obsessions and compulsions that are keeping you stuck in anxiety. You will also have the option to learn concepts and skills from Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT). I-CBT is an emerging OCD treatment designed to help you break patterns of 'what if' thoughts, doubt and rumination, and learn to regain trust in yourself again.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Therapy for
Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety disorders are rooted in patterns of negative, unhelpful beliefs and behaviors. Jumping to negative conclusions, assuming the worst and ignoring the positives are thinking traps that fuel anxiety and keep you stuck in fear and worry. Through CBT, you'll learn the impact of thoughts and thinking traps on feelings and behaviors, and develop new skills to change the way you feel. It is possible to overcome social anxiety, phobias, worry, panic and other anxiety disorders-- CBT can help.
Perfectionism, at its core, is fueled by fear. Whether it be fear of mistakes, judgement, or failure, it can drive even the most overachieving and hard working person to feel not good enough. Perfectionism has symptoms that feed off each other: people pleasing, procrastinating, avoidance, and self-criticism. Unfairly, this can negatively skew the way someone feels they are perceived and how they perceive others. Through CBT, we can identify perfectionistic beliefs and behaviors, understand them, and treat them. Together, we can free you from the perfectionist tightrope and work on a path to healthier approaches.
Evidence -based therapy has been shown, through decades of research and clinical trials, to improve mental health.
Basically, we do what works.
Our Approach
Evidence-Based Therapy in a Nutshell
Guided by Research
What even is evidence-based therapy? It means that years of research and clinical trials have demonstrated that these approaches work to reduce symptoms, produce change and improve quality of life.
Change Your Mindset
Learn new skills to challenge negative thinking, change beliefs, develop a more positive mindset, and unhook from obsessive thoughts.
Set Goals
What struggles are you facing? How do you want your life to be different? Setting clear goals can increase motivation, inform treatment planning, help us be intentional in our work and measure progress along the way.
Change Your Behaviors
Identify behaviors that are keeping you stuck such as avoidance, procrastination, & people pleasing. You'll learn skills and complete exposures to break these patterns, conquer your fears and develop more healthy approaches.
Build Awareness & Insight
Develop awareness of the negative thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that are keeping you stuck in a cycle of anxiety, perfectionism and OCD. Awareness is essential because we can't change what we can't see.
Make Lasting Change
Lasting growth in therapy happens when you make changes in your daily life, so every session ends with a homework assignment to encourage building new habits that last a lifetime.
